A very successful Bake Sale !
In November, two parallel classes, G1c and P1c, worked together to raise money for two South African organisations, named Onwaba and Hope Schools. Onwaba is a soup kitchen for children, where 60-100 children are served a warm meal daily. They also help young pupils with their homework and encouraging them to stay on the right path. The feeding and development centre would also like to start their own fruit and vegetable garden for the kids to enjoy. Hope Schools, on the other hand, is a school for children from Kindergarten to Matric, that is committed to providing an excellent education and holistic care for kids, who come from disadvantaged communities, throughout their schooling years.
Since I have been to South Africa numerous times myself, and have seen the poverty there, I was highly motivated and committed to making a success of this bake sale. I experienced a lot of excitement, good team spirit, collaboration and financial success as we raised CHF 840.00, breaking previous bake sales records. What an achievement!!
I am extremely grateful to the people who run Onwaba and Hope Schools and happy for the children who are taken care of by them.
Furthermore, I would like to say many thanks to everyone for buying, selling and baking the delicious treats. I would also like to highlight the positive impact we had with this activity, while we were working together, having fun and enjoying ourselves.
Wouldn’t it be great if this became a tradition and we at FGZ could help so many children on a regular basis?
