We provide a range of extracurricular offers for interested pupils.

The optional subject "Theatre" offers pupils in classes 3 to 6 the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of acting.
The content and activities encompass a wide range of art forms such as acting, music, literature, design and scenography. The creative process not only focuses on acting, but also on promoting personal development through self-expression, strengthening communication skills, building self-confidence and teamwork.
Model United Nations clubs are established extracurricular activities, particularly at English-speaking universities and secondary schools.
MUN clubs simulate the processes and debates of United Nations’ meetings where members assume the role of delegates and attend conferences where delegates from different (often international) universities and schools meet and participate in competitions. Established in 2018, FGZ MUN won the "Best Delegate Award" in Paris.
Interested pupils have the opportunity during their fourth year to take part in a student exchange with a partner school in Australia.
We offer exchange programmes with our two partner schools in Sydney, Sydney Grammar School and St Catherine’s School. The aim is not only to improve language skills, but also to gain important personal and cultural experiences.
We offer class 4 pupils the opportunity of a two-week mutual language exchange with a partner school in French-speaking Switzerland. The exchange includes a two-week visit by our pupils to French-speaking Switzerland and a visit by our tandem partners to Zurich. This not only improves pupils’ French skills, but it is also often the beginning of beautiful friendships across the ‘Röstigraben’.
We offer particularly gifted pupils the opportunity to develop their specific strengths and interests beyond the Gymnasium curriculum and to take part in scientific, artistic and sporting programmes: Science Olympiads, study weeks organised by “Schweizer Jugend forscht” (a foundation promoting scientific research among young people) and the university programme for upper secondary school students run by the University of Zurich are just a few prominent examples of many opportunities.
We support our class 5 and 6 pupils with various initiatives as they progress towards choosing a course of study and career. The following events are planned in this context: study information half-day, application workshop, exchange of experiences with former pupils, application assessment with experts from business, visiting days at universities and higher education institutions.
Studying abroad, whether at a summer school, a semester or an entire course of study, offers our students not only academic and professional benefits but also the opportunity to get to know new places and cultures and improve their own language skills. We offer our students advice on questions about “studying abroad” and provide support with the application and admission process for universities and higher education institutions.
Every spring semester, our pupils have the opportunity to take either Cambridge or IELTS tests.
These examinations are internationally recognised and are often a prerequisite for studying abroad. In recent years, the results achieved by our students have confirmed the high standard of English teaching in both the mono- and bilingual programmes at our school.
